Presentation of Uzbekistan at Antwerp University

20 students and faculty members of the Higher School of Business (HSB) under the Academy of State and Social Construction under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan arrived to Belgium on 28 September with two-week study tour program in Antwerp University, aimed conduct the modern international management practices.

During the program participants will be able to get acquainted with the European experience and best practices in the area of business management.

The students of HSB, currently enrolled in the MBA program, will have the opportunity to learn about modern management practices, strategic planning, human resources management, marketing, quality management, as well as administration of public entities and enterprises in Belgium. The study program will consist of visits to production, construction, trade, logistics and other types of companies.

During the study program the Memorandum of Cooperation to continue the fruitful collaboration between these HSB and Antwerp University two institutions will be signed.

The study tour is organized within the framework of the project "Improving Public Sector Management Skills through Building Training and Research Capacity of HSB", which is a four-year joint initiative between UNDP and HSB that started in June 2005. The project aims to improve public sector management practices in Uzbekistan by boosting the HSB's institutional capacity through building the School's ICT (Information and Communication technologies) base and increasing quality of the education and research by providing overseas and in-house learning opportunities for faculty, students and staff.

Within the framework of the visit of Uzbek delegation to Belgium, the Presentation of social-economic development of Uzbekistan took place on October 2 in the Antwerp University.

The professors and students from Antwerp University, representatives of academic and scientific circles of the Province of Antwerp participated at the event.

The participants of the presentation were informed about the results of the social-economic reforms in Uzbekistan during the years of Independence, economic performances of Uzbekistan, current condition and perspectives of trade and economic relations of Uzbekistan with Belgium.

The film entitled “Dynamic Uzbekistan” about the modern development of Uzbekistan during the years of Independence has been demonstrated at the event.

Young artists from Folklore Dance group “Vrienschap” from Antwerp presented the colorful program of Uzbek dances, which was warmly received by the audience.
